What is the EYFS?

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standard for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS , including nurseries, pre-school and reception classes. As educators, we believe that children are equipped with enormous potential for learning from the moment they are born. In their early years, every experience a child has contributes to their understanding of the world around them and their place in it.

Our Early Years curriculum combines the Early Years Foundation goals with elements of holistic and wellbeing teaching to create child-initiated learning. Practical life activities using real objects in real situations are crucial, and time is given to children to repeat and refine these skills. Independence is nurtured right from the very beginning through everyday routines, under the enthusiastic, watchful eyes of an experienced Early Years team.

The framework seeks to ensure that all children are healthy and safe and are given opportunities to learn and develop. There is a strong emphasis on a link between school and parents/carers.
