Wake Up Wednesday

Wake Up Wednesday is a National College initiative that helps to empower adults and protect children in the digital space – encouraging schools, parents, carers and children alike to ‘wake up’ to the extent of potential hazards facing young people online.

Each week (on Wednesdays, naturally) they've released a colourful, easy-to-follow and insightful guide to an aspect of the digital universe that’s causing concern, outlining related risks and suggesting ways to help children avoid them. It could be a video game, an internet-enabled device, an app or a more thematic threat associated with the online space.

We've uploaded just a few of the documents for the most common apps and games we come across in school and we'll continue to upload and highlight to all parents aspects of the digital universe that you will inevitably have to make decisions about with at some stage in your child's life.

Whether you're a tech-free or a tech-savvy household, our overarching advice to all parents would be that knowledge is power; understand the apps, games and sites that your children are using and continuously talk to your children regularly about what they're doing on their tablets, phones and games.
